What are you working for?

This Week’s Good Work Insight
I’m a fan of Johnny Cash and C.S. Lewis.
On My Mother’s Hymnbook–one of Johnny Cash’s last and favorite albums–“I Am A Pilgrim" is worth adding to a contemplative playlist.
In The Problem of Pain, Lewis talks about there being “pleasant inns” on our earthly pilgrimage.
Recently, my family and I were able to vacation on an island at the top of Lake Michigan.
Islands are strange. They are like natural icons (Christian icons are said to be windows into the eternal world). They are windows into a more human reality. Things slow down. Only essentials matter. The stars are brighter.
Aristotle famously said that we work so that we might have leisure.
