Personal Advisory Boards

This Week’s Good Work Insight

We work with people experiencing massive change.

Some asked for it. Some did not.

One person is moving from CA to FL. Another is moving from TX to OR. One is called to 10x those they serve. So-and-so is taking her first head-of-school role. Another is moving from a for-profit medical role to a non-profit medical role. Another person is leaving the service. Another has wrapped-up a term as a missionary and is now looking for work. Another seeks his first CEO role.

If you are experiencing massive change–or just did or just will–here’s my advice: form your own personal advisory board.

You could ask them for a few months or for a year–or just to play-it-by ear.

Why do such a thing? We were made for community. We were made to strengthen and sharpen and encourage one another. We were made to hold each other accountable. We were made for good counsel.

At present, my personal advisory board is made up of my wife (we talk daily), my spiritual director (we talk monthly), my friend/mentor/coach (weekly), my friend and investor (monthly), Sól legal counsel and friend (monthly), and a few trusted professionals (quarterly to once a year).

Each of these people help me with my vocation. They help me to be a better version of myself. They help me to serve others better.

Who are the people you could ask to walk with in your work and life? Who are the people to help you grow into the person you were created to be? Who could you call or text today?

Cordially,

CEO & Founder
