Girded Glee

Some of us are slow learners.

It can take decades to learn a basic truth: when we tackle something hard, we earn the privilege of facing the next hard thing—sometimes one that stretches us even more.

Most of us think that after doing something hard that we’ve earned the right to “easy”.

So the next challenging thing wilts us.

There is a book with the title of The Hard Thing About Hard Things. I wish it were The Good Thing About Hard Things.

Here in Colorado, many people have a goal to climb all 58 14ers. So when they hike up (and hike down) a 14,000-plus foot mountain, they know they will do it again—sooner than later—with girded glee.

They know they will do the hard thing 58 times. They plan for it.

58 your mindset. Your new job requires it. Your clients and team need it. Your family needs it. You need it to get the next right job. You won’t be happy without it.
